Coaching is not a scientific operation…but if you strip away the jargon, you do end up with an intuitive, collaborative, process in which the coach can shift the angle of the problem.

I think she’s spot on. It is not that individuals can’t do this themselves, but it can be pretty hard to do when you sit alone in a room. And, for senior leaders, it is often uncomfortable to talk with the board, peers or staff.
Therein lies the value of the executive coach.
